Kajabi alternatives for Shopify sellers

Alva Courses is a Shopify app that sells and delivers online courses through the Shopify checkout you already run. This roundup compares it with the other Shopify-native course apps (Tevello, Courses Plus, Inflowkit and LDT) and the standalone platforms Kajabi users weigh most often: Thinkific, Teachable and Podia. Every price was checked on the vendor's own site or App Store listing in October 2026.

TL;DR

Running courses on Kajabi beside Shopify means two platforms, two checkouts and two customer lists, and Kajabi starts at $179 a month ($143 billed annually) as of October 2026. Shopify-native apps such as Alva Courses ($9.99 or $14.99 a month), Tevello, Courses Plus, Inflowkit and LDT keep courses in your store. Kajabi remains the stronger all-in-one marketing suite.

Why switch

Why Shopify sellers look for Kajabi alternatives.

Shopify sellers look for Kajabi alternatives because Kajabi duplicates what their store does. Courses sit on a second platform with its own checkout, customer list and login, and Kajabi's cheapest plan costs $179 a month, or $143 billed annually, as of October 2026. A Shopify course app uses the store, checkout and customer accounts you already pay for.

01
Two checkouts

A customer can't buy your course and your physical products in one order. Course sales run through Kajabi's checkout and payment settings, product sales through Shopify's, so discount codes and sales reports live in two places.

02
Two customer lists

Kajabi keeps its own contacts. Your Shopify customer records, tags, segments and email apps such as Shopify Email or Klaviyo don't see course buyers unless you sync or export them between the two systems.

03
Two logins

Students sign in to Kajabi to learn and to your Shopify customer account to see their orders. A Shopify course app removes that split, because course access follows the Shopify customer and the order they placed.

04
Plan limits and fees

Kajabi Basic includes 5 products and 2,500 contacts. Where Kajabi Payments is offered, using another processor (PayPal excepted) adds up to 2% per sale. The table below has each plan's limits.

Kajabi sells three plans, each billed monthly or at a lower monthly rate billed annually. The table below lists the limits Kajabi publishes for each plan, taken from its pricing page on 8 October 2026.

Source: Kajabi pricing, checked 8 October 2026. Kajabi Payments card fees for US accounts are 2.9%, 2.8% and 2.7% plus $0.30 by plan. Extra contacts are sold in blocks of 25,000 for $125 a month, and every plan carries a 30-day money-back guarantee.

What Kajabi does well

Kajabi is a capable all-in-one platform. One subscription covers a website builder, landing pages, funnels, unlimited marketing emails, communities, coaching, podcasts, newsletters and memberships, plus AI tools and, on the Pro plan, a branded mobile app.

Kajabi's own pricing FAQ makes the honest case: it is expensive if you only need course delivery, and better value when it replaces your email tool, website, community and checkout. If your store already lives on Shopify, much of that bundle overlaps what you pay Shopify for.

The shortlist

Eight Kajabi alternatives, checked in October 2026.

The Kajabi alternatives worth comparing fall into two groups. Shopify-native course apps (Alva Courses, Tevello, Courses Plus, Inflowkit and LDT) sell courses as Shopify products through your existing checkout. Standalone platforms (Thinkific, Teachable and Podia) replace Kajabi with another separate site, usually for less money but with the same two-platform split.

Shopify-native course apps

Top pick for Shopify stores

1. Alva Courses

Shopify app · $9.99–$14.99/mo · 14-day trial

Alva Courses is a Shopify app that builds, sells and delivers online courses inside your store. Each course is linked to a Shopify product, so buyers pay in your normal checkout and are enrolled the moment the order is paid. One product can grant access to several courses, which is how you sell a bundle.

Once you switch on enrolment emails, students get a branded email with a personal access link that works without a customer account. With Alva's extensions added, the course also opens from the thank-you page and from a My Courses page in Shopify customer accounts, and plays in a storefront player with progress tracking.

For stores that also sell physical products, lessons can show live Shopify product cards that students add to their cart. Course events such as enrolments and completions reach Shopify Flow, ready to feed Shopify Email, Klaviyo or customer tags.

Pricing
Unlimited $9.99/mo. Unlimited Pro $14.99/mo adds Alva Video Hosting (50 GB, no per-video limit). Both start with a 14-day free trial; there is no free plan.
Strengths
Native Shopify checkout and customer accounts. Quizzes, completion certificates, drip scheduling and per-lesson comments on both plans. Course emails can send from your own domain.
Limits
No community space, website builder or marketing email, and no Kajabi importer. On Unlimited, uploaded video uses Shopify's 1 GB / 10-minute per-file cap, so long lessons need an embed or Unlimited Pro.
Best for
Shopify stores that want courses next to their products, in one checkout and one customer list.

2. Tevello Courses & Communities

Shopify app · courses + communities

Tevello Courses & Communities is a well-reviewed Shopify app that runs courses inside your store and sells them through the native Shopify checkout. It is the closest Shopify-native match for Kajabi's Communities, with community spaces included alongside courses, memberships and subscriptions.

Pricing
One plan at $29/mo with a 14-day free trial. The free plan is for development stores only.
Strengths
Unlimited courses, members and communities. Memberships and subscriptions, limited-time access, drip, certificates and quizzes. 100 GB of video storage and 500 GB of monthly video bandwidth included. Physical products can be bundled with a course.
Limits
Video storage or bandwidth beyond the included allowance costs extra; check Tevello's site for current add-on pricing.
Best for
Kajabi users whose community matters as much as the course content.

3. Courses Plus

Shopify app · migration help · SCORM

Courses Plus is a Shopify course app that sells courses, memberships and subscriptions through your store's checkout. Its App Store listing offers free migration of courses, files, customers and enrolments from other platforms, naming Kajabi among them, which is directly useful when you are leaving Kajabi.

Pricing
Free plan (up to 5 lessons per store). Basic $19.99/mo (20 lessons), Professional $79.99/mo (100 lessons), Enterprise $199.99/mo (unlimited lessons). 7-day trial; yearly billing saves about 17%.
Strengths
Migration help, SCORM import and AI course drafting. Zoom and Google Meet sessions, quizzes and subscriptions on Professional; memberships and bundles on Enterprise.
Limits
Lesson caps per store below Enterprise. Quizzes and subscriptions start on the $79.99 Professional plan.
Best for
Sellers who want the vendor to move their content, or who need SCORM or live webinars.

4. Inflowkit Courses & Membership

Shopify app · courses + subscriptions

Inflowkit Courses & Membership is a Shopify app for selling courses and subscriptions, with a drag-and-drop lesson editor and a learner dashboard. Orders sync to the Shopify admin, and lessons can use Zoom, Vimeo, YouTube, Loom or custom video sources.

Pricing
Lite is free (2 courses, 10 lessons, 100 enrolments, $300 sales cap). Starter $19/mo, Basic $49.99/mo, each with a 14-day trial.
Strengths
Subscriptions on every paid plan and certificates from Starter. Drip schedules, webinars and course bundles on Basic.
Limits
Starter caps you at 50 courses and 5,000 enrolments, and drip scheduling needs the Basic plan.
Best for
Membership-led stores that sell recurring access more than one-off courses.

5. LDT Courses & Communities

Shopify app · storage-tiered plans

LDT Courses & Communities is a Shopify course and LMS app that delivers courses inside your online store. Its paid plans are tiered mainly by storage, which makes it a strong value option when you host a large video library.

Pricing
Free (30 enrolments a month). Starter $12.99/mo (50 GB), Business $19.99/mo (300 GB), Ultra $49.99/mo (1.5 TB). 7-day trial.
Strengths
Unlimited courses and enrolments on paid plans. Secure video and audio playback with subtitles, a PDF and EPUB viewer, quizzes, certificates, memberships and subscriptions. The app is available in 25 languages.
Limits
The free plan caps enrolments at 30 a month, so it suits small stores only.
Best for
Video-heavy catalogues on a tight budget.

Standalone platforms (a separate site, like Kajabi)

6. Thinkific

Standalone course platform

Thinkific is a standalone course platform with its own website, checkout and student accounts. It is the most course-focused of the standalone options, with a community on every plan, plus live cohorts and B2B selling on its higher plans.

Pricing
Listed in US dollars at Basic $54/mo ($40/mo billed annually), Start $109/mo ($82), Grow $219/mo ($164), Plus on request; some regions see local-currency prices. No free plan; 30-day free trial.
Strengths
Unlimited courses and up to 10,000 current students on Basic to Grow. Certificates, memberships and live cohorts from Start; group orders and invoicing on Grow.
Limits
A second platform beside Shopify. Using Stripe or PayPal instead of Thinkific Payments adds a third-party gateway fee that varies by plan.
Best for
Businesses where courses are the main product and the Shopify store is secondary.

7. Teachable

Standalone course platform

Teachable is a standalone course platform with its own checkout and iOS and Android student apps. Plans are capped by number of products, and the entry plan charges a transaction fee on each sale.

Pricing
Starter $39/mo ($29 billed annually) with 5 products and a 7.5% transaction fee. Builder $89/mo ($69) with 10 products. Growth $189/mo ($139) with 50 products. 7-day free trial and a 30-day guarantee.
Strengths
Student apps on every plan. No Teachable transaction fee from Builder up when you use Teachable Payments. Imported students and branding removal on Growth.
Limits
Product caps on every plan, and a second checkout and login beside Shopify.
Best for
Creators who want student mobile apps and a simple standalone school.

8. Podia

Standalone all-in-one

Podia is the closest all-in-one alternative to Kajabi at a lower price: courses, community, coaching, events, a website and email marketing on one standalone platform with its own checkout.

Pricing
Mover $49/mo ($42/mo billed annually) with a 5% transaction fee. Shaker $99/mo ($84) and Earthquaker $179/mo ($150) with no Podia transaction fee. 14-day free trial.
Strengths
A Kajabi-style bundle for less. Podia migrates course content and customer emails for you, up to 50 or 150 products depending on the plan.
Limits
Email subscribers are capped by plan (100, 500 or 1,000), and it is still a separate site and checkout from Shopify.
Best for
Creators who want Kajabi's all-in-one model for less and don't need Shopify.

Shopify apps run on top of your Shopify plan, which a Shopify seller already pays for. Standalone platforms add their subscription on top of that if you keep the store. Card processing fees apply everywhere and are not shown. Vendors change prices, so confirm on each listing before you decide.

Choosing

Which Kajabi alternative fits your store?

The right Kajabi alternative depends on what you used Kajabi for. If it was mainly course delivery, a Shopify-native app replaces it at a fraction of the cost. If community, migration help or storage matters most, Tevello, Courses Plus or LDT may fit better. If you rely on Kajabi's marketing suite every week, staying may be right.

Choose Alva Courses if you…

  • Sell physical or other products on Shopify and want courses in the same checkout
  • Want buyers enrolled automatically and one customer list in Shopify
  • Need long lesson videos hosted without a separate video account (Unlimited Pro)
  • Want quizzes, certificates, drip and per-lesson comments from $9.99/mo
  • Plan to automate course events with Shopify Flow

Choose another Shopify app if you…

  • Need community spaces like Kajabi Communities (Tevello)
  • Want the vendor to migrate your content, or need SCORM (Courses Plus)
  • Sell mostly recurring memberships (Inflowkit)
  • Host a very large video library on a small budget (LDT)

Choose a standalone platform if you…

  • Don't have, or don't want, a Shopify store
  • Run courses as the core business with B2B seats or invoicing (Thinkific)
  • Want iOS and Android student apps on every plan (Teachable)
  • Want Kajabi's all-in-one model for less (Podia)

Stay on Kajabi if you…

  • Use its website, funnels and email marketing every week
  • Run a community, coaching, podcasts or newsletters as core products
  • Want a branded mobile app (Pro plan)
  • Prefer one vendor for marketing, checkout and learning

Migration path

How to move from Kajabi to Shopify.

Moving from Kajabi to Alva Courses is a rebuild, not an import: Alva Courses has no Kajabi importer. Export your videos, files and lesson text from Kajabi, recreate the sections and lessons, link each course to a Shopify product, then enrol existing students from a CSV file. Keep Kajabi running until the new setup is tested.

  1. Install Alva Courses from the Shopify App Store and start the 14-day free trial. Course management appears inside your Shopify admin.
  2. Export from Kajabi. Download your course videos, PDFs and lesson copy, note the module and lesson order, and export your member list.
  3. Rebuild the course. Recreate sections and lessons in the drag-and-drop builder. Upload video to Alva Video Hosting on Unlimited Pro, or embed it from YouTube, Vimeo or Loom.
  4. Link each course to a Shopify product and set its price. Buyers are enrolled automatically when their order is paid.
  5. Import existing students by CSV from Members → Bulk Import CSV. The enrolment email for imported students is optional and starts switched off; Kajabi progress does not carry over.
  6. Test, then switch. Place a test order, point your links at the Shopify store, and cancel Kajabi once enrolments are arriving.
The Members view in Alva Courses: import your Kajabi student list by CSV, then track progress from the first lesson.

The full walkthrough, including what does and doesn't transfer, is in how to migrate from Kajabi to Shopify; the CSV format is in import members with CSV. If you would rather hand the move over, Courses Plus and Podia both list migration help on their own pages.

Questions

Kajabi alternatives: common questions.

For most Shopify sellers, the best Kajabi alternative is a Shopify-native course app, because courses then sell through the same checkout and customer accounts as the rest of the store. Alva Courses fits stores that sell courses beside their products, at $9.99 or $14.99 a month. Tevello suits community-led offers, Courses Plus offers migration help, and LDT offers large video storage on small plans.
As of October 2026, Kajabi lists three plans: Basic at $179 a month, Growth at $249 and Pro at $499, or $143, $199 and $399 a month billed annually. Basic includes 5 products, 2,500 contacts and 2 admin users. Kajabi takes no revenue share, but card processing fees apply, and where Kajabi Payments is available, using another processor adds up to 2% per sale.
Yes, with a Shopify-native course app. Alva Courses links each course to a Shopify product, so a customer can buy a course and physical products in the same order and is enrolled automatically once the order is paid. Kajabi and the other standalone platforms use their own checkout, so course and product purchases stay in separate systems.
Not automatically. Alva Courses has no Kajabi importer, so you export your videos, files and lesson text from Kajabi and rebuild the sections and lessons in the course builder. Existing students can be enrolled in bulk from a CSV file of names, emails and course titles. Their Kajabi progress does not carry over, so keep the same lesson order to help them pick up where they left off.
Kajabi is the better choice when you use its whole bundle: website and landing pages, funnels, email marketing, communities, coaching, podcasts and newsletters in one subscription, with a branded mobile app on its Pro plan. It also suits creators who have no Shopify store. If your business already runs on Shopify and Kajabi mainly hosts courses, a Shopify course app usually costs far less.
No. With Alva Courses, students open their course from the personal access link in their enrolment email, which works without a customer account, or from My Courses in their Shopify customer account once you add Alva's customer account page. There is no second platform and no Kajabi-style member login. Other Shopify-native apps also keep learners in your store; check each listing for details.
