What students see when work is graded
On a course with evaluation switched on, Alva Courses changes the ending: instead of finishing the last lesson and collecting a certificate, the student hands the course in, waits, and comes back to a grade.
Handing the course in
Once every published lesson is complete, a Submit for evaluation button appears, and reaching the end of the course opens the same dialog. Headed "Ready for evaluation?", it warns: "You won't be able to change lessons or quiz answers until the review is finished." The student can cancel.
The waiting state
The course then reads "Submitted for evaluation. Your instructor is reviewing your work." Everything stays open to read, but nothing can be changed. A student who tries to tick off a lesson is told: "Your work has been submitted for review. You can complete this lesson once your instructor has reviewed it."
How progress reads
Progress is held short of the finish line so the bar never claims the course is done before anyone has read it:
- Up to 90% while the student is still working.
- 99% while a submission is waiting on the instructor.
- 100% and "Completed" once the evaluation is passed.
The same rule applies in the course sidebar, on your storefront course cards, and on the student's profile page.
Where the grade appears
Close an evaluation with Visible to student ticked and a letter attached, and a "Grade: A" banner appears at the top of the course, beside the deadline banner. It shows the most recently published grade. Pass with no letter — a straight pass/fail course — and no banner appears.
Where written feedback appears
The overall note you write when closing an evaluation is published to the student, provided you close it with Visible to student ticked. It appears on the course under Feedback from your instructor, one entry per attempt, each headed with the attempt number and the date it was evaluated and carrying that attempt's grade alongside the note. The most recent attempt is expanded and earlier ones stay collapsed, so a student who resubmits keeps the whole history. Feedback on an individual quiz answer still comes back with that quiz result under Instructor feedback, and a reply on a reflection entry appears in the lesson it belongs to.
Certificates wait for a pass
The certificate download stays hidden and the completion email is held back until the evaluation passes. Sending work back for revision keeps both withheld.
