Change a student's deadline

A deadline set by the course applies to everyone who enrols, but Alva Courses lets you override it for one person from their member page — or move a whole selection of students on one course in a single update.

Change one student

  1. In the Shopify admin, open Alva Courses, go to Members, and open the student.
  2. In the student's course table, read the Access deadline column. It shows a date, or Unlimited.
  3. Click Edit under the access deadline on that course's row.
  4. Choose Unlimited to remove the deadline, or Limited to set one.
  5. Enter the access deadline. The field names the time zone the date is read in, which is your store's.
  6. Click Save. The course row shows the new deadline straight away.

Change a group of students

Bulk changes are made from the course, not from the member list, because a deadline belongs to one student on one course. Open the course, select its Members tab, tick the students you want, and choose Update access. The dialog is titled Update access deadlines: pick Unlimited or Set a deadline under Access duration, enter the date, and confirm. It tells you how many members it moved.

What a deadline change does not do

What students see

The change is live on the student's next page load. Extending a live deadline moves the countdown on their course card; extending one that had already passed clears the "Your access to this course has ended" screen and returns them to their lessons with all their progress intact.
