How it works
When a student completes every lesson in a course, Alva Courses generates their certificate and sends it by email automatically. That email uses a single template you control: its subject, its message body and the sender name are all set in one place, so every certificate goes out consistent with your store's voice.
Customise the email
1. Open certificate settings
In the Shopify admin, open Alva Courses, go to Settings, and select Certificates. Confirm completion certificates are turned on so the delivery email is active.
2. Edit the subject and sender
Set the subject line learners see when the certificate arrives — something clear like "Your certificate for {course}". Set the sender name so the email comes from your brand rather than a generic address.
3. Write the message
Edit the message body that accompanies the certificate. Congratulate the learner and explain what they have earned. Use the available merge tags — such as the student name and course title — so each email reads as personal.
4. Send a test and save
Use Send test to email yourself a sample and check the subject, message and certificate look right. When you are happy, save. Every new completion will trigger the updated email automatically.
What learners see
As soon as a learner finishes the course, your branded email lands in their inbox with the certificate ready to download. The subject, sender and message all read exactly as you set them, so the moment they complete feels like a genuine reward from your store.
