Add a video lesson

Alva Courses is a Shopify app that lets you add a video to any lesson with a Video block. Upload to Alva hosting, or embed from YouTube, Vimeo, VdoCipher or Loom — the player renders in your storefront automatically.

How it works

A lesson holds one or more content blocks. The Video block plays from a source you choose: an Alva-hosted upload, or an embed from YouTube, Vimeo, VdoCipher or Loom. Either way the video appears in the branded storefront course player — no extra setup for students.

Add a video block

1. Open the lesson editor

In the Shopify admin, open Alva Courses, select your course, and click the lesson you want to add video to. The rich lesson editor opens with its content blocks and toolbar.

2. Add a Video block

Click Add block and choose Video. Pick your source — an Alva-hosted upload, or an embed from YouTube, Vimeo, VdoCipher or Loom.

3. Upload or paste your video

For Alva hosting, upload the file directly. For an external source, paste the video URL or embed link. Alva Courses builds the player for you — no embed code editing needed.

4. Save and preview

Click Save, then use the storefront preview to confirm the video plays inside the course player. When it looks right, publish the lesson.

What learners see

Enrolled students watch the video in the storefront course player, alongside the sidebar lesson list, progress bar and completion ticks. There's no second login or external platform — playback stays inside your Shopify store.
