How it works
Alva Video Hosting stores and streams your lesson videos directly through Alva Courses, so you do not need a separate YouTube or Vimeo account. Unlimited Pro includes 50 GB of dedicated storage. There is no limit on video length and no per-video size cap beyond your remaining storage — upload a short intro or a multi-hour masterclass as an MP4, MOV, WebM or M4V file and it plays inline in the storefront course player. Every upload is kept in your Video Library, so you can reuse it in any lesson.
If you move from Unlimited Pro to Unlimited, the videos you already uploaded stay hosted and keep playing in your courses. Uploading new videos needs Unlimited Pro again.
Upload a video and add it to a lesson
1. Open the Video Library
In the Shopify admin, open Alva Courses and click Videos in the app menu. You can also get there from Settings → Integrations → Video Library → Manage Videos. The page shows how much of your storage allowance is in use and lists the videos you have uploaded.
2. Upload a video
Click Upload video, choose an MP4, MOV, WebM or M4V file, check its title (it starts as the file name), then click Upload Video. Keep the tab open and your computer awake until it finishes: large files are sent in parts, and a dropped connection is retried automatically. The video shows as Ready in the library when it is done.
3. Add it to a lesson
Open a lesson, click Add Content and choose Video. In the Video block, open the Alva Video Hosting tab, then click Choose from Library to pick a video you have uploaded, or Upload New Video to upload one from the block. A video uploaded from the block is added to it when the upload finishes, and is kept in your Video Library too.
4. Save and preview
Save the lesson, then preview it in the storefront player to confirm the video plays for your learners. There is no separate encoding step to wait for: the video is ready as soon as the upload completes.
What learners see
Learners with access to the lesson watch your videos in the storefront course player, streamed directly from Alva Video Hosting through short-lived secure links. There are no third-party logos or external redirects to pull them out of your store. Learners mark the lesson complete with Complete and Continue, as in any other lesson.
