How it works
The Members view in Alva Courses holds every enrolled student across your courses, along with their progress. An export is a background job, not an instant download: you set the filters and the columns, start it, and Alva Courses builds the file while you carry on working. That is what lets a store with tens of thousands of enrolments export at all.
One export runs at a time. Ask for a second while one is in flight and the page attaches you to the export already running rather than starting another.
Export the data
1. Open the Members view
In the Shopify admin, open Alva Courses and click Members. The view lists every enrolled student with their email, the courses they are in, and their progress.
2. Filter to the members you want
Use the search box and the filters to narrow the list — a single course, a completion status, or active versus expired access. The export captures the members your filters select, so set them before you start it.
3. Choose your columns
Click Choose columns. Tick the ones you want under Member columns, and under Contact properties if your store uses any, or use Select all and Clear all. Every column is included by default and the picker keeps a running count of how many are selected.
4. Start the export
Click Export CSV. The page confirms the export is queued and keeps you posted as it runs. Your column choice is frozen onto that export the moment you click, so changing the picker afterwards cannot alter a file already being built.
5. Wait for it to finish
A banner reports progress and, when the file is done, the number of rows exported. Large stores can take a few minutes. If an export fails or is cancelled, the banner says so and you can start a new one.
6. Download the CSV
Click Download CSV. Open it in Excel, Google Sheets, or Numbers for reporting and analysis, or keep it as a backup. The download link expires automatically — if it has, run a fresh export rather than hunting for the old file.
What is in the file
One row per student per course. The member columns are first name, last name, email, course, enrolled date, progress percentage, completed, status, expiry date, member since, enrolled this year, completed this year, and grade. After them come your contact properties, one column each, headed attr: followed by the property name.
Save a column set
If you export the same shape of file every month, save it. Under Saved column sets in the picker, name your selection and click Save as new set. Choose it from Saved set next time, or click Make default so it fills the picker on every visit. Update this set and Delete set maintain it.
A saved set only fills the picker. It never changes an export that has already started, and names have to be unique within your store.
