The monthly progress digest

The monthly digest summarises a student's progress across the courses they own at your store. Alva Courses composes it per student, on a day and in a time zone you choose. It is off until you turn it on.

Turn the digest on

  1. Open the Email Templates page in Alva Courses and select the Monthly digest tab.
  2. Fill in Business postal address. The switch stays disabled until you do.
  3. Tick Send the monthly digest.
  4. Set Send on day to a date from 1 to 28, and set Time zone to your own.
  5. Edit the subject, title, message, button text and footer, then save.

The day list stops at 28 because every month has one, so no digest is skipped by a short February. Your time zone decides the send day and which calendar month the summary covers.

What is in it

Your own message first, then two lists Alva Courses builds for that student: Still in progress, with a percentage and any days of access left, and Finished this month. Each shows up to five courses and says how many more there are.

The footer you cannot edit

Alva Courses adds a footer after everything you wrote, and it cannot be edited or removed: a line explaining why the student is receiving the email, an Unsubscribe from these emails link, and the business postal address you entered. That is why the address is required before the switch will move.

How a student opts out

The unsubscribe link opens a confirmation page. Some mail clients also offer a one-click unsubscribe, which Alva Courses honours without the student leaving their inbox. Either route takes effect immediately.

Opting out stops the digest for that email address at your store, and nothing else. Enrolment, completion and certificate emails about courses they have already bought still reach them. The opt-out is recorded against the address, so re-importing the same student does not quietly start the digest again.
