How-to

Suggest courses in the digest

The Suggested courses card in Alva Courses lets you hand-pick the courses promoted inside the monthly digest. You choose them and their order; each student sees at most three, and never one they already own.

Add a course to the block

  1. Open the Email Templates page, select the Monthly digest tab, and find Suggested courses.
  2. Choose Add course and pick one from the list of published paid courses.
  3. Drag the rows, or use Move up and Move down, until the order is the one you want.
  4. Choose Save suggested courses. The store link for each course is created as you save.

Six picks, three slots

You can hold up to six courses in the card; the digest shows the first three that survive the per-student check. The spare picks are the point — a student who already owns your two best sellers still gets a full block instead of an empty one.

What can be suggested

Published, paid courses only. Links always go to the product page in your storefront, because that is where a student can actually buy. If a course is later unpublished or made free, its row stays in the card with an Unpublished or No longer paid badge and stops being suggested, so you can fix it rather than silently lose a slot.

Keeping the links working

Check product links re-tests the links Shopify built from your products and flags anything with a Broken link badge — usually a product that is no longer published to the Online Store. You can also set your own Manual link for a course; it must be an https address, link shorteners are refused, and manual links are never checked automatically.
