The course completion email

Alva Courses sends the completion email from its own servers, as part of closing an evaluation. Nothing depends on the student having the course player open, and the wording can differ depending on the grade you award.

When it sends

  1. Open Alva Courses, go to Evaluations, and open the student's submitted work.
  2. Write your feedback and enter a final score, which sets the grade letter.
  3. Set Outcome to Pass.
  4. Choose Mark evaluation complete. The completion email is sent as part of saving it.

Revise and resubmit never sends a completion email. The student is asked for another attempt instead, and the email waits for the pass.

Two versions, chosen by grade

The Email Templates page carries two completion tabs: Completion email (grades A–C) and Completion email (grades D–F). A grade beginning with A, B or C uses the first. Every other grade — D, E, F, one of your own letters, or no grade at all — uses the second. Both follow a pass, so treat the second as the quieter copy for a scraped result rather than a rejection notice.

It sends once

Each enrolment gets one completion email, and Alva Courses records the delivery so a second pass through the page cannot repeat it. If sending fails, the evaluation is still saved and you are told so; a Retry completion email button appears on that evaluation. Students with no email address are skipped, and nothing goes out at all while email sending is switched off for the store.

What students see

The subject, title, message, button and footer from whichever template matched their grade, in your store's email colours. The button takes them back into the course, where your written feedback is waiting.
