Draft, review and save an email
1. Ask for a specific change
In Sidekick, ask: “Use Alva Courses to edit the enrolment email for [course name]. Make the message shorter and more welcoming, keeping its variables.” Approve the app if Shopify asks.
2. Confirm the course
Open the email editor offered by Sidekick. If no course was selected, choose one first. Check the course name before continuing; the editor starts from its saved custom email or the inherited shop email.
3. Review the proposed wording
Check the edited fields and preview. Keep variables such as {course.title} and {customer.first_name} intact. You can request changes to the subject, title, message, footer, main button text, login hint and optional link label and URL.
4. Save or cancel
Click Save when the wording is ready. Choose Cancel to leave the saved email unchanged. Saving updates this course’s template without sending a message; sending a test email is a separate manual action.
An optional extra link needs both a label and a complete https:// URL. Check the destination before saving. Sender, recipients, branding and delivery
switches stay in the ordinary email settings.
Common questions
Will Sidekick change every course’s email?
No. Saving applies to the selected course. Other courses keep their existing email settings.
Will later edits to the shop email replace this wording?
No. Saved custom course wording stays separate from the shop template. Use Reset to shop email in the ordinary editor to return to the shop default.
What if someone edits the email at the same time?
The editor can reject a stale save instead of overwriting the newer version. Reopen or refresh it, review the current template, and ask Sidekick to apply your changes again.
Will saving enable enrolment email delivery?
No. Customer delivery still requires the shop’s email delivery and enrolment template to be enabled. Saving or previewing does not send an email.
